"I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as I live it is my privilege - my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I love. I rejoice in life for its own sake. Life is no brief candle to me; it is a sort of splendid torch which I’ve got a hold of for the moment and I want to make it burn as brightly as possible before handing it on to future generations."
George Bernard Shaw
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME...
My name is Grace Walker and I recently graduated with a dual degree in Theatre Performance and Public Relations & Strategic Communications at American University. I am a theatre maker with a fierce passion and a strong commitment to elevating emerging voices in American theatre. I aim to shape a positive public image for playwrights by positioning their unique voices for contemporary audiences.
I am a multi-hyphenate theatre artist, accessibility advocate and content creator currently based in the Los Angeles area. I have worked with several performing arts organizations, including the Kennedy Center, Studio Theatre, American Pops Orchestra, Imagination Stage, Forum Theatre, and many more.
I have also monitored media trends for Mecoy Communications and provided administrative support for LA Theatre Works and JDRF.
Like so many others, I am a mixture of many different things. But I believe that my future aspirations can be summarized in a single sentence:
I am a creator, a collaborator, a character dressed in camouflage.
I create plays, press packets, research reports, social media posts, play responses, email communications and affinity lists. I collaborate with my students as a Teaching Assistant and with my actors as a Director. I play characters from a variety of different backgrounds and I am a better person because of it. I am a multitude of many different things, which is why I am a great asset for any organization.
